Because, in P. vivax, only the 19-kDa EGF-like domains of MSP1P (PvMSP1P-19) at the C-terminal region showed binding activity to human red blood cells and can be recognized by malaria-exposed patients (Egan et al., 1995; Cheng et al., 2013; Han et al., 2018), in this study, we focused on its orthologous target in P. knowlesi.
