SOAT1 and Flavivirus Infections: G12 transcripts have been suggested to play a role in immune function because (i) G12 protein in Aedes aegypti has a high level of identity with cockroach allergens (Morlais et al., 2003), (ii) it is up‐regulated after flavivirus infection via the JAK–STAT pathway (Etebari et al., 2017), and (iii) it has a cytolytic effect on flaviviruses and several types of eukaryotic cells (Foo et al., 2021).
