Over the last decade, the availability of advanced sequencing technology (‘next-generation sequencing') has resulted in a comprehensive understanding of the genetic background of meningiomas and the mutations (NF2, TRAF7, AKT1, KLF4, SMO, POLR2A, PIK3CA, SMARCE1, SMARCB1, hTERT, CDKN2A/2B) underlying tumour development and progression [6–10]. This evidence concerns the gene TRAF7 and meningioma.
