Combing with the single-cell transcriptomic data from invasive cSCC samples, we further screened out the candidate genes that were not only highly expressed in SCCIS samples, but also highly expressed in keratinocytes with proliferative capacity or differentiative potential (Basal1, Basal2, Pro KC, and Follicular1) in cSCC tumor samples, which play an important role in the progression of SCCIS to invasive cSCC. This evidence concerns the gene CALCA and skin squamous cell carcinoma.
