Although further studies are required to assess the role of Lyn kinase in mediating other macrophage phenotypic alterations such as Arg1 and CD206 expression, its regulation of TGFβ highlights its potential as a therapeutic target in lung fibrosis, and a number of small molecule inhibitors of Lyn kinase including Bafetinib, are in development. This evidence concerns the gene TGFB1 and pulmonary fibrosis.
