CC tumors with absent/low levels of CDX2 expression and a low percentage of positive tumor cells (< 25.0%) were associated with CDX2 hypermethylation (p = 0.044 and p = 0.048, respectively) (Additional file 1: Fig. 1) and were preferentially of mesenchymal type and hMLH1/hPMS2 defective tumors (p < 0.005).
