Conversely, in the brain, immunoexpression of angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) and the S1 subunit of the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2, detected by a monoclonal antibody, was almost entirely negative, suggesting that there was no infection in the brain and that the massive intraventricular hemorrhage was probably a secondary effect of placental damage. Here, ACE2 is linked to infection.
