Because of the significantly lower expressions of ZNF135, ZNF667 and ZNF667-AS1 genes in samples from stomach cancer as compared with healthy samples (Supplementary Figures S14 and S15), we argue that this inverse effect in STAD and SKCM projects does not entirely contradict our hypothesis of potential housekeeping tumor suppressor genes; instead, it might suggest cancer-specific changes on these genes driven by other latent variables (See Discussion and Supplementary Figure S20). The gene discussed is ZNF667; the disease is gastric neoplasm.
