Ogrodnik et al. (2019) documented senescence in glial cells in the amygdala and hypothalamus in obese INK-ATTAC transgenic mice and leptin receptor-deficient obese mice, linked to anxiety-like behavior. Depleting SCs in obese INK-ATTAC transgenic mice decreased SC burden in the amygdala and hypothalamus and relieved anxiety-related behaviors. Obesity also leads to a decrease in the population of NSCs in the SVZ, which could be partially recovered by AP20187 treatment in INK-ATTAC mice (Ogrodnik et al., 2019).
