Apolipoprotein E (ApoE), a class of lipoproteins responsible for cholesterol transport and lipoprotein metabolism (Mahley et al., 2009), is the strongest genetic risk factor for the late-onset Alzheimer Disease (LOAD) (Biffi et al., 2010; Yu et al., 2014; Yamazaki et al., 2016; Hersi et al., 2017; Kanatsu and Tomita, 2017; Liao et al., 2017) and emerging therapeutic targets for it (Safieh et al., 2019; Uddin et al., 2019; Yamazaki et al., 2019). Here, APOE is linked to Alzheimer disease.
