Consistent with previous report [35], this study also demonstrated that Irak2 is exclusively expressed in the cytoplasm in the non-diabetes state, while Irak2 is able to translocate to the inner mitochondrial membrane and interact with prohibitin (Phb) and optic atrophy protein 1 (Opa1) upon PA challenge (Additional file 1: Fig. S4). The gene discussed is PHB1; the disease is diabetes mellitus.
