ATG7 and Hepatic steatosis: Although these last two studies seem contradictory, a more in-depth analysis of Amersfoort's study reveals that, in the livers of Atg7-deficienc mice, the absolute number of both CD4 and CD8 T cells was significantly reduced compared to the control group; therefore, the total amount of IFNγ and IL-17 produced by T cells throughout the process of hepatic steatosis development was significantly lower in Atg7-deficient mice.
