ERBB2 and cancer: Lipid increases in cancer cells are important for different aspects of cancer development: (1) they may be stimulated by oncogenic signaling (e.g., EGFR, HER2, HIF-1α, etc.); (2) they directly contribute to the growth and proliferation of cancer cells; (3) they protect against oxidative stress resistance and are involved in redox balance; (4) they provide advantages regarding cell survival under energy stress; and (5) they are involved with the invasive properties of cancer [20,22,29,30,31].
