In general, we identified a decrease in the expression of genes associated with glucose metabolism and de novo lipogenesis, as well as demonstrating an increase in the expression of Cyp2e1 and Ppara in induced DM, all these effects correlating with an increase in the expression of genes associated with antioxidant protection (such as catalase, glutathione synthase and Sirt1). This evidence concerns the gene SIRT1 and diabetes mellitus.
