Many other members of the TRP sub-family of Ca2+-permeable channels regulate crucial endothelium-dependent functions, including TRP Melastatin 2 (TRPM2), which can prevent endothelial dysfunction [232] and regulates both angiogenesis and vascular permeability [233,234]; TRPV1, which stimulates angiogenesis [191,218] and regulates NF-κB-dependent gene expression [216]; and finally, the mechano-sensitive TRP Polycystin 1 (TRPP1), which regulates blood pressure [235,236]. The gene discussed is TRPM2; the disease is endothelial dysfunction.
