CD4 and experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis: Prevotella histicola-treated mice with experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis exhibited an increased frequency and number of CD4+FoxP3+ regulatory T cells in the periphery and gut and a decreased frequency of pro-inflammatory IFN-γ and IL17-producing CD4 T cells in the central nervous system, suggesting that Prevotella histicola suppresses the disease by enhancing anti-inflammatory immune responses and inhibiting pro-inflammatory immune responses [109].
