Intriguingly, the cGAS/STING-mediated inflammatory response also appears to provide a targetable vulnerability of cancer cells with induced CIN, as cGAS-STING promotes IL-6-STAT3 pro-survival signalling, presumably for cells to cope with the initial stress response that is imposed by CIN [31]. This evidence concerns the gene CGAS and cervical squamous intraepithelial neoplasia.
