The Arg-1 (M2) mRNA expression level was also increased (ANOVA: F(4, 25) = 138.74, P < 0.0001, F(4, 25) = 198.50, P < 0.0001; F(4, 25) = 121.56, P < 0.0001, respectively) (Fig. 8a–c), indicating the inflammation caused by CLP-induced sepsis stimulated both M1 and M2 macrophages in these critical organs.
