Schaan et al. [25] evaluated the efficacy of bilateral denervation in rats with diabetic nephropathy; they studied 26 rats—13 of them with diabetic nephropathy and 13 healthy—that were randomized to either surgical RDN or no procedure, demonstrating a significant decrease in the levels of cortical GLUT1 protein toward normal values, without regression of diabetic-induced albuminuria. Here, SLC2A1 is linked to diabetic kidney disease.
