GAA and cancer: The extracts of this liverwort showed antioxidant and antibacterial properties, inhibition of tyrosinase and alpha-glucosidase, as well as cytotoxicity against several cancer cell lines.13–18 However, little is known about the alpha-glucosidase inhibitors from this medicinal source, with only two reports.17,18 These authors conducted the biological evaluation of extracts derived from natural and cultured M. polymorpha, indicating the potent inhibition of all prepared extracts.
