These results align with prior studies that reported increased virus titers in IL-6−/− mice after infection with influenza virus (Lauder et al., 2013; Yang et al., 2017), HSV-1 (LeBlanc et al., 1999), vaccinia virus (Kopf et al., 1994), E. coli (Dalrymple et al., 1996), S. pneumoniae (van der Poll et al., 1997; Schmit et al., 2020), and Candida albicans (Van Enckevort et al., 1999).
