In multiple myeloma [13], phenoxline (a PSMD14 inhibitor) can impair cellular proteasome function, activate caspase cascade and endoplasmic stress response signals to promote death in multiple myeloma cells and overcome resistance to proteosome inhibitor bortezomib, proteasome inhibitors and tyrosine kinases inhibitors produce synergistic antitumor effects. The gene discussed is PSMD14; the disease is plasma cell myeloma.
