BAX and benign prostatic hyperplasia: The balance of proliferation and apoptosis in cells is the basis of growth homeostasis, while any disruptions in this balance may contribute to the progression of BPH.[27] We found that genetic silencing of YAP1, or pharmacological inhibition of YAP1‐TEAD interaction, significantly reduced cell proliferation and induced apoptosis of the BPH‐1 and WPMY‐1 cells, as evidenced by decreased cell viability and Edu+ proliferating cell numbers, and increased Bax/Bcl‐2 ratio and apoptotic cell numbers.
