Importantly, neighborhood analysis of PD-L1+ cells and PD1+ cells (defined as direct neighborhood of at least one PD-L1+ tumor cell with at least one PD1+ immune cell) showed that in patient CRC13 there were PD-L1+ tumor cells/PD-1+ immune cells interactions whereas in patient CRC03, despite the relatively high densities of both PD-L1+ tumor cells and PD-1+ immune cells, there were no significant cell-cell interactions (Figures 6C–6E; Table S5).
