The highest levels of Gal-3 were strongly associated with a higher risk of 4-year mortality, independent of LV dimensions, function, or RV pressures.Dyspneic patients with HF and Gal-3 levels above the median value had a 63% mortality; patients less than the median value had a 37% mortality (p = 0.003).
