Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) is a rate-limiting enzyme in pentose phosphate pathway (PPP), which induces EMT by activating signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) pathway, thus promoting the metastasis of HCC cells (Lu et al., 2018). This evidence concerns the gene STAT3 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
