Among baseline variables (Table 1), in-hospital hypoglycemia was independently and positively associated with older age (in years; odds ratio [OR] 1.04, 95% CI 1.01–1.06) and insulin therapy before admission (OR 3.04, 95% CI 1.77–5.21), and it was negatively associated with HbA1c (in percentage; OR 0.81, 95% CI 0.70–0.94) and BMI (in kg/m2; OR 0.93, 95% CI 0.89–0.97) on multivariate analyses (logistic regression).
