The limiting of autocrine IL‐2 production and the simultaneous de‐repression of IL‐2 signaling suggests that ZFP36L1 enforces dependence of CD8 T cells on paracrine IL‐2, which becomes available during the early phase of an infection and is largely produced by antigen‐specific CD4 T cells and DCs [58]. This evidence concerns the gene ZFP36L1 and infection.
