Interestingly, SEPTIN7 rs1143149 in moderate LD with rs3801339 was proposed as a risk factor for the development of non-small cell lung cancer and was associated with shorter survival in long-term smokers.55SEPTIN7 was often mutated in breast ductal carcinoma in situ cell lines and these mutations might participate in the progression of breast ductal carcinoma.57 Recent studies therefore suggest that SEPTIN7 variability may play a role in some cancers, but it was not an important risk factor in asbestos-related diseases in our study. The gene discussed is SEPTIN7; the disease is breast ductal adenocarcinoma.
