It is noteworthy that the inferior prognosis associated with ER+ breast cancer among BRCA2 mutation carriers cannot be explained by lack of response to antihormone therapy because the prognostic disadvantage was found to be similar for BRCA2 carriers diagnosed during the period of 1935–1979 before antihormonal therapy was available, as it was for patients diagnosed during 1980–201211. This evidence concerns the gene BRCA2 and breast carcinoma.
