LPA and atherosclerosis: Overactivation of the autotaxin–LPA–LPA receptor axis is reported to be involved in several pathologies, including cancer (Gotoh et al., 2012; Balijepalli et al., 2021; Lin et al., 2021), fibrotic diseases (Pradère et al., 2008; Tager et al., 2008; Castelino et al., 2011; Oikonomou et al., 2012), neuropathic pain (Kuwajima et al., 2018), atherosclerosis, psoriasis (Gaire et al., 2020a), and type 2 diabetes (Geraldo et al., 2021).
