To fight cancer, beta-sitosterol can disrupt several cell signaling pathways and either directly or indirectly cause apoptosis (Bao et al. 2022), such as activating P53 (Rajavel et al. 2018), regulating the PI7K/Akt/mTOR pathway (Zhu et al. 2018), mediating the apoptotic regulator Bcl-2 protein family (Moon et al. 2008; Vundru et al. 2013), and generating Bax and activating caspase (Choi et al. 2003). This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and cancer.
