When taken together, curcumin had differential effects on four different CRC cell lines when administered at respective IC50 doses such as promoting apoptosis, necrosis, and NLRP3-dependent pyroptosis in SW480 and to a lesser extent in HCT116 cells, while apoptosis and necrosis were the predominant cell death pathways activated in LoVo cells. The gene discussed is NLRP3; the disease is colorectal carcinoma.
