Several potential risk factors have been identified for this transition (FitzGerald et al., 2021), including genetic susceptibility within the HLA region, comorbidities such as hyperlipidemia and obesity, variants in genes involved in interferon signaling and NF-κB signaling, and psoriasis-related factors such as psoriasis severity, potentially psoriasis location, and nail dystrophic changes (Veale and Fearon, 2018; Scher et al., 2019; FitzGerald et al., 2021). Here, NFKB1 is linked to psoriasis.
