VLDLR and atherosclerosis: The serum miR-17-5p is elevated in patients with atherosclerosis and miR-17-5p knockdown can alleviate atherosclerotic lesions and inhibit the proliferation and migration of VSMCs by directly up-regulating very low density lipoprotein receptor (VLDLR), or indirectly regulate VLDLR by affecting proprotein convertase subtilisin kexin 9 (PCSK9) (Tan et al., 2017).
