An animal study [30] showed that only 40 mg of myocardial necrosis is sufficient to increase the serum concentrations of cardiac troponin above the 99th percentile, which means that hs-cTn-I can be detected in the early stage of myocardial injury caused by idiopathic DCM. The gene discussed is TNNI3; the disease is familial dilated cardiomyopathy.
