A study done by Ribeiro-Silva et al. showed that p63 was completely negative in neoplastic cells of low- and intermediate-grade invasive ductal carcinomas but was detected in high-grade invasive ductal carcinomas, suggesting the possibility that it is an indicator of the aggressiveness of breast carcinoma and that it may play a role in mammary tumorigenesis [2]. The gene discussed is TP63; the disease is invasive ductal breast carcinoma.
