SLC7A11 inhibitors such as sulfasalazine and sorafenib, as well as other ferroptosis inducers, are currently being tested in combination therapy with cisplatin and doxorubicin in clinical trials for head and neck carcinomas, acute myeloid leukemia, glioblastoma, ovarian cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma and renal cell carcinoma (47,55). This evidence concerns the gene SLC7A11 and hereditary clear cell renal cell carcinoma.
