The excretion of bile acids in the bile may stimulate Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) in CYP7A1. Previously, it was reported that SNPs in CYP7A1, the rate-limiting enzyme in the metabolic pathway responsible for cholesterol converting to primary bile acids, were associated with an increased risk of CRC (13). The gene discussed is CYP7A1; the disease is colorectal carcinoma.
