In a study, it has been determined that hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) secreted from BM-MSCs increases the expression of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) in gastric cells and, subsequently, by affecting the G6PD/NF-κB/HGF axis in gastric cancer cells, increases glycolysis, proliferation, and metastasis of gastric cancer by upregulating c-Myc/HK2 signaling pathway (127). This evidence concerns the gene HGF and gastric cancer.
