As already described in the previous section, the protein encoded by a mutated version of INAVA (rs41313912, missense variant, Tyr333Phe), which is associated with increased risk of IBD (54), is not able to impede the ARF6-mediated internalisation of CDH1 and the consequent destabilisation of the adherens junctions (55). This evidence concerns the gene CDH1 and inflammatory bowel disease.
