TF and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: In our study, the most commonly observed past history was IHD (20 cases, 30.30%), followed by hypertension (19 cases, 28.79%), type 2 diabetes mellitus (10 cases, 15.15%), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (three cases, 4.54%) and others such as tobacco chewing or smoking (27 cases, 39.92%), which may have synergistic effects to deteriorate the outcome of disease. Hence, a correct diagnosis can easily be arrived at using parameters such as serum ferritin and transferrin saturation.
