In sepsis, a large number of novel therapeutic targets have been discovered, such as sphingosine 1‐phosphate 1, PAR1, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and angiopoietin 1 (Ang‐1), which have been found to play a regulatory role in endothelial dysfunction (Figure 3).213, 214, 215.
