The IHC scores for PNPLA8 revealed that PNPLA8 was overexpressed in invasive breast cancer tissues (n = 280) compared to normal breast tissues (n = 7), adjacent normal breast tissues (n = 31) or cancer adjacent breast tissues (n = 4) (Fig. 4A, B), which is consistent with the results of PNPLA8 protein expression levels from the Clinical Proteomic Tumor Analysis Consortium (CPTAC) (https://ualcan.path.uab.edu/analysis-prot.html) breast cancer dataset measured by proteomics (Additional file 1: Fig. S5A) [31, 32].
