Hematological complications have been documented to be the second most common cause of morbidity and mortality in HIV patients, and are generally marked with cytopenia such as anemia, neutropenia, lymphopenia and thrombocytopenia.[16] The Packed cell volume of PLWHIV 0.401 ± 0.06 L/L is comparable with the control group 0.386 ± 0.04L/L.(P > .05) while, Hb level was (128 ± 14.2g/l) significantly lower (P = .002) than that of the control group (136.1 ± 19.6g/l).
