CREBBP and cancer: Interestingly, many genes related with enhancer activity have been shown frequently mutated in cancer, such as lysine methyltransferase 2C/D (KMT2C/D), E1A binding protein p300 (EP300), CREB binding protein (CREBBP), lysine demethylase 6A (KDM6A, also named as UTX) and lysine demethylase 5C (KDM5C), which solidifies the importance of enhancer regulation in cancer [19, 23–27].
