SIRT2 and juvenile Huntington disease: For example, SIRT2 inhibitors can provide neuroprotection against models of Huntington's disease (Luthi‐Carter et al., 2010), Alzheimer's disease (Bai et al., 2022) and Parkinson's disease (de Oliveira et al., 2017; Outeiro et al., 2007); however, SIRT2 deletion impairs axonal energy metabolism, resulting in locomotor disability (Fourcade et al., 2017), with SIRT2 also playing a putative role in reducing neuroinflammation (Chen et al., 2021).
