Remarkably, among the research projects currently underway at the Monash University (Australia), it is worth mentioning that Prof. Colin Pouton and Dr. Rebecca Nisbet have started in July 2023 an experimental work aimed at developing a mRNA vaccine, in which the mRNA encapsulated within lipid nanoparticles ultimately targets tau protein, to be used for the therapy of Alzheimer disease. The gene discussed is MAPT; the disease is early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
