LCN2 and COVID-19: Most recently, a prospective study investigated the performance of urinary biomarkers in predicting the COVID-19-associated composite endpoint of intensive care unit requirements, including a need for RRT, mechanical ventilation, and in-hospital mortality, and found that urinary NGAL tended to predict AKI (AUC = 0.669, and p = 0.05) and in-hospital mortality (AUC = 0.674, and p = 0.07) [37].
