It is known that obesity promotes production of IL-17 from T cells in visceral fat and peripheral tissues, and that high IL-17R levels correlate with Insulin Resistance (IR) while an IL-17 blockade decreases hepatic inflammation in Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH) syndrome [148]. The gene discussed is IL17A; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
